The price of auction paintings for the well known Spanish artist has seemed to go up in value within the last two years. The artist became popular during the '60's when then Governor John Connolly took an interest in him.
Jose Vives-Atsara was well known for his village, coastal, floral, and landscape themes. In the last several auctions, I have noticed that the "sold price" for his were sold at retail pricing! Also, several of the items sold had several "cracks" in the paintings even though they have been touched up for a better auction value.
Bottom line is the value on all Vives are well worth the retail price in most sales. But buyers need to know and understand that values on some do take some market numbers down at times due to reconditioning.
I believe that there are a few special paintings out there that are by Jose Vives-Atsara and the ones that are possibly the "one of a kind" paintings are very few. I take pride in trying to find those special "unique" one of a kind paintings.
Come by to check out a few of what I have at the gallery and just see for yourself what I have come to love the most about the few that he painted that stand out so special and so limited.
